Recently I watched a documentary about the Munich 1972. My general conclusion was that if German authorities had allowed a Mossad team intervine there were big chances to save the hostages' lives. The Israeli Goverment took a firm position: "no negociation" and quickly Land of Bavaria authorities and German goverment realised how fruitless were attempts of negociations from their part. They decided to do an operation of delivering in the airport where the terrorists were going to take a plane and leave the country with the hostages. Unfortunately, the snipers the Germans had sent there, were outnumbered by the terrorists, wrongly placed (a stray bullet killed a German policeman!) and highly inefficient. And before that, when the hostages were staying locked in their rooms with the terrorists, the Munich police tried to manage an action with policemen wearing sweats and carring weapon in sport bags. The policemen had climbed onto the roof of the 31 ConollyStrasse building (the quaters of the Israeli team) and waited for the sign to enter by the windows... Only, all the action was not only observed by thousands of journalists who had invided the place but also trasmitted directly by several televisions. And each room in the OG campus, including those where the hostages were hold, was equiped with a TV post!!! Nobody thought of it...
