Original made-for-internet series are nothing new: MySpace TV tried the format with quarterlife -- which they eventually sold to major American network NBC -- and a number of original ongoing programs of varying budgets and production values are broadcast via YouTube. So far, the format has met with middling success. But that may change when Google takes a stab at it. The creator of the popular animated series Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, is working on a new cartoon series for the online search giant. The episodes will last about two minutes and include advertisements, some of which may be created by MacFarlane himself. And since they will be broadcast as part of Google's AdSense program -- they will appear on various websites that represent the show's target market. Currently going by the name of "Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy," the shows will likely be shot with generous production budgets, and MacFarlane will be paid a percentage of the ad revenue, based on clicks.
