Here's a challenge for you!

Can you explain, to MY COW, the current World Banking Crisis?

Imagine you have a son or daughter and they ask you what is going on. Could you explain clearly and simply the situation?

Why not try? Such exercises are very good for your English!

Excellent question Max

To be honnest when I hear specialist and their different versions, I am not sure there is only one answer.

I my opinion, Banks have created very complex and virtual products not connected with concrete economy ( manufacturing cars, selling food or exporting planes) that nobody was really  understanding but that was generating miraculous profitMoney mouth.  Subprime was the trigger, and now banks realize they invested billions dollars or euro on virtual things.

I think Banks have now to consider to change drastically their business models if they want to survive and recover confidence from the market.

Of course not all the Bank did this, but as the banking system is underconnected, every bank is suffering more or less .

Not to boring ?Tongue out

My explanation is that the current financial crisis is due to our slavery to computerized math and networks. It is has become far too easy to take your risk, use dynamic models to chop it up, remix it, and sell it off to others online - very complicated mathematical risk that a human mind can not totally comprehend. When the stupidly greedy banker met the sophisticated computer whiz, the end result was bound to go haywire.
