Following a discussion in the general forum, I was thinking, what is the difference between "trip" and "journey"?

I think that maybe, a trip is more about the place someone is going, and a journeyis more about the time spent travelling...

Hello Eowyn,

You got the right interpretation of the difference between trip and journey.

A trip is usually there and back.

We went on a trip in Germany. (We went, we stayed somewhere, we came back.)

A journey is a period of time taken to get from place to place :

During the journey to Germany, we stopped at this amazing restaurant...

Is it clearer?

Thank you Elicow for this explanation. As Eowyn, I wasn't sure either.
