This film is an American adaptation of a true story set in 1925 Japan about a professor and his devoted dog, Hachikō. Today, a bronze statue of Hachi sits in the Shibuya Station in Japan in honor of his faithfulness and loyalty.

That's why I knew that "Hachiko" was a dog's name!

In the manga "Nana", two girls meet, both with the same name (Nana). One ends up calling the other one "Hachi" for "Hachiko", because of this story, and the nickname sticks with their friends.

hey Astide,

Cute story.

Hachi is a nice nickname. It would suit my dog. Although I 'm not sure she is as devoted as the real Hachiko.

cheers,

Liz
