Hi everyone!

I had an exchange with stanislas11 about prefering to read in English.

I am myself a big fan of Sci Fi and heroic fantasy.

For example, I am an ardent reader of the "Iron Throne" series, which recently was set to television. (And let me tell you that the book is really, really complicated...)

But I have been reading Sci Fi in English for years, which gives me a very large vocabulary of space, spaceships and other very useful (ahem) words like that.

And thanks to my heroic fantasy reading, I can probably describe a castle and Middle-Age weapons and armor, but let me tell you that it is not that useful in everyday life.

So what would you choose to read? Laughing

I think that I would start with those books in two languages, where you have side by side the French and the English version!

The first book i read was "Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone" and as it is written for children, the vocabulary is simple, clear. I recommend it.

Hi,

I'm 100% concived that reading books is the best way to improve one's english. It has been very efficient for me until now !

Recently, I've read the Hunger Games trilogy. It's very good, and quit easy provided that you have a good translator for the specific vocabulory ("bow and arrow"....). Personaly, I use the Google translation app on my smartphone.

I've also read "Eat, pray, love" and its sequel "Committed". It's utterly different, but usefull to acquire a another set of vocabulory.

I'm also a fan of Sci Fi and Fantasy : any suggestions ?
