Mistakes
Our philosophy.
Hi. Just to clarify our philosophy on mistakes.
We hope to help you to achieve the best English possible, and find the important errors and correct them in a way that will help you understand exactly why that is a mistake and, hopefully, stop you making the same mistake in the future. Because the teacher wants to concentrate on what’s important, and give a comprehensive explanation, that means not everything you say will be corrected.
Why?
Because it would soon become very confusing, and, almost all modern teaching methodologies agree that to correct all of a student's mistakes is not a good idea, because it stops them writing and speaking and communicating and enjoying the language.
We have an unconscious faculty in our brains that corrects our mistakes for us. It may not happen for a while, but, after making the same mistake X10 times and knowing the correct form “elsewhere” in the brain – the brain corrects itself.
This is how babies learn – who do not have access to grammar books. It is also how 90% plus of errors and mistakes are corrected: by exposure to more and more correct English and by self-correction.
So, don’t worry, important mistakes will be frequently addressed on this forum. The principle thing is for you to talk and communicate and enjoy English by exchanging ideas and thoughts and dreams with each other.
Good luck!
