In the Alps, traffickers prey on migrants and rescuers alike

[Article] Over the past year, the arrival of migrants in the French region of Hautes–Alpes, on the border with Italy, has increased dramatically. Since February, the work of volunteers in the area has been complicated by a new phenomenon: the increasingly popular business of smugglers who lure migrants in with a promise of crossing the Alps, in exchange for large sums of money.
